How We Help

MetMin staff and volunteers help clients each Monday through Wednesday. Wednesday is reserved for seniors over the age of 62. There are 35 assistance slots available each of those days. The demand for our help is quite high, though, and those 35 slots are often filled by the time we open our doors at 8:00 am.

Clients are interviewed on a first-come, first-served basis rather than by appointment. There are no geographic limits.

Standard assistance areas include:

  • Past due utility bills (electricity, gas, water, and sewer)
  • Past due rent bills
  • Food vouchers to the Chattanooga Area Food Bank (available only on Mondays and Tuesdays), and
  • Our On-site Grocery Store for Seniors (available only on Wednesdays).

From the 1st to the 15th of each month MetMin helps with rent, water, sewer, gas, and food. From the 15th to the end of each month, we assist with EPB (electricity only), water, sewer, gas, and food.

MetMin helps with one resource at a time. All clients are encouraged to meet with our Resource Manager in order to access other beneficial goods and services.

In collaboration with other great agencies, MetMin provides special support to students in the Brainerd area as well as to widows throughout the community. For more information about those programs, please contact the Resource Manager.
